When *both* a candidate and an expert have opted into a recorded session - Zoom will automatically record the session.

The recording will then be automatically run through a transcription tool.

Please note - this functionality has not yet been built and we are still evaluating if it is interesting / relevant for candidates and coaches alike.

What can I expect from a practice interview?​

Privacy is super important to us - we go the extra mile to protect it so you feel safe.

All your data is protected. Our website is completely secure. 

If you use a product involving experts, we give you the option to share your resume so they can customize their advice to your background/ context. Experts know that they need to keep this confidential. However, this is optional; if you don't want to share it, the system still works.

Finally - we recommend practice interviews be done over audio. That adds one additional level of privacy too.

We go the extra mile to protect your privacy. All your data is protected. Our website is completely secure. 

All Prepfully sessions are currently conducted over Zoom.

Once the session is scheduled and confirmed, you'll receive a calendar invite with a conference link. The link will be shared with both the candidate and the expert.

We recommend audio calling (and screen sharing where necessary, of course) to protect the privacy of the candidate as well as the expert, and use of video only if absolutely necessary and mutually agreed.

PS - we're constantly trying new tools which help improve the experience and protect all participants' privacy, so you might sometimes get an invitation to use something completely different too.

How do I connect with Prepfully’s experts?

We do this at our end. Just as we are committed to protect your privacy, we also protect our experts’ - and therefore we only share an anonymized profile and relevant experience with you once your session is booked.

Can a session with an expert working at my target company affect my hiring process?

Yes, we do share an anonymized profile of your expert, along with the sections of their experience which are relevant for your request. However, personal details are not revealed in order to protect their privacy. Check out our privacy policy for the full set of details.

Will I know the profile of the expert who’ll take my session?

We’ve got a robust matching algorithm to ensure we find the best possible expert for your requirements.

However, you have the option to reject the expert within 24h of a session being scheduled - we’ll find a new expert for you. Please do note, that if your request is profile-specific, there might be extra charges associated with it (more details here)

In addition, we can't inquire into our expert's specific teams in the company they're working in, since this constitutes confidential information. We do of course support matching title ranges.

You always have the option to cancel the session, and as with all cancellations requested by a candidate - we'll issue a full refund minus PayPal's transfer fees, if there are any.

What if I do not find the expert profile suitable to take the session?

First off, we apologize for your negative experience.


Please give us details here, or email us at support@prepfully.com right after the interview. If you provide specifics of what went wrong within 24 hours of the session, and it's clear that your expert failed in delivering upon any realistic expectations you might have requested for your mock interview experience, we will offer you a refund of value. 

A refund of value is where you tell us whatever you think the session was worth; we'll reach out to your expert to notify them, and then refund the difference. For instance, if you paid 100 USD for a session but there was a  failure on the part of the expert to deliver a relevant interview experience, you can then tell us how much the interview was worth to you (eg. 50 USD), and we'll coordinate with the expert to refund the difference (eg. 50 USD). 

PS - your expert spent time preparing for and coaching you in a session -- so we ask you to be thoughtful of their time and effort invested too. However, it is your decision and the refund amount is your call - we trust you to make the right one. 

You will need to have filled out your written feedback form answering all relevant questions that you would have received immediately after the session.

You'll need to send us specifics regarding how the session didn't work as possible - we take refund requests very seriously, since our entire premise is to have great coaches who can deliver great experiences for candidates (i.e. the sort which don't trigger refund requests) - and detail ensures your coaches can either learn from the experience and improve their services, or be removed as coaches from the platform.

For special circumstances (for instance, if you felt your coach made you feel unsafe), please make sure to let us know when reporting a refund request. We have a special process for this; and will make sure your coach will not see your feedback. 

Important: Please note, these steps must happen within 24 hours of your session being completed. Once 24 hours have passed, we can unfortunately not support refund requests. This is because 

Experts have already been paid by this point, and it is not possible to claim payments back. 

Experts' and candidates' memories remain fresh only up to a certain point. Longer periods lead to disagreements and misrepresentations of what really happened in-session.

The 24 hour rule protects our experts from fraud, as well as protects Prepfully from perpetual liability.

Is "my actual interview was nothing like the mock interview" a legitimate reason for requesting a refund?

To explain further - this first depends on whether you picked a coach or were matched with a coach who has worked in your target company and role.

If you either picked a coach or accepted a coach who isn't an exact fit for the role you are interviewing for - they are not expected to know the interviewing process of your target company. They will simulate an interview for the role you have selected, and respect any special request you have provided. For instance, if you are interviewing at Dropbox for a Product Manager role and choose a Meta PM to practice Behavioural, the Meta PM will simulate a PM Behavioral interview but will not simulate a Dropbox-specific Behavioral interview. Therefore, "my Dropbox interview was not like the mock interview" is not a valid reason for a refund. However, "my mock interview didn't cover behavioral questions" is a valid reason for requesting a refund.

However, if you were indeed matched with a coach from your target company and role, and you report the interview simulation didn't match reality - we quickly investigate your target company/role's interview process to verify if the topics covered by the expert were (a) relevant and (b) in line with any request you might have provided through Prepfully. If either of the two conditions above were not satisfied, you will be entitled to a refund. In this case too, a request must be made within 24 hours of the session being completed.

Please do note, it would be impossible for one expert to cover all possible topics, themes, or questions, that an actual interviewer might cover in the live interview loop, in a single mock interview. For some roles, candidates book several mock interviews to cover an array of topics. This can help you ensure greater coverage over topics which will happen in your actual interview. If you have a special request (eg. "portfolio review type interview" for a Product Designer role, or a "Product Sense" style interview for a Product Manager role), then you always have the option to send this through us in advance, and your expert would be happy to customize the interview based on this requirements.

Why doesn't Prepfully bear the cost of a refund itself?

We actually do -- when we make a mistake we bear the cost of a full refund, and fix it ASAP - we are bootstrapped and would go out of business pretty fast if we didn't. In situations where we don't feel we could have done more to pre-empt a refund, it is borne by both Prepfully and the coach.

Some examples of situations where we've issued refunds in the past (a total of 16 such refunds so far, out of thousands of completed sessions -- fingers crossed it doesn't go up)

[2023] A candidate requested a "TikTok PM" interview. We matched them with a PM from Bytedance. We mistakenly mapped TikTok and Bytedance as one company. We now have 6 TikTok PMs and 2 from Bytedance. Candidate offered free session in lieu.

[2022] A candidate requested a QA Engineer who could provide them practice in "Cypress and Typescript". We missed sharing this when reaching out to coaches, and the coach matched proved to be an expert in "Java and Selenium Webdriver but not at all in Cypress and Typescript" (reported by the candidate). Full refund offered.

[2021] A candidate requested a "Meta Product Design" interview. We matched them with a Product Designer from Meta. It turns out "Product Design" is an interview type for Software Engineers and EMs. We now have 23 Meta engineers supporting Product Design interviews for engineers. Candidate offered free session in lieu.

[2021] A candidate requested a "Product Design Engineer" interview. We matched them with an Apple UX Designer. We didn't realize at the time that Product Design Engineering was a hardware engineering role. We now have 16 PDEs + Mechanical Engineers from Apple, Meta and Google. Full refund offered.

[2021] A candidate requested a Meta PM mock interview, and they got matched with a Meta Product Growth Manager. We now have 44 Meta PMs, so we won't make that mistake again! Full refund offered.

However, in situations where either a coach doesn't provide a mock which respects requirements, or is rude/unprofessional, or is unable to provide a proper mock interview simulation or coaching experience -- the cost of a refund is borne by the coach.

Are there any scenarios where Prepfully doesn't support refunds?

If you miss a session, and a coach marks you a no-show (coaches will always wait 20 min before they can mark you a no-show, and are required to upload screenshots and timestamps proving that you weren't in a session), we will not be able to issue a refund or a free reschedule.

If you request a specific coach and find out after the session that you booked the wrong coach by accident - we won't be able to issue a refund. Please read the coach profile carefully before booking; and cancel in advance to get the relevant refund amount. Naturally, if a coach has misrepresented their employment, this exclusion doesn't apply. We verify coaches' employments though, so if you feel a coach has actually misrepresented their experience - we will request proof.

If you've provided an unrealistic scope (eg. covering 4-5 different formats in one hour) - this session becomes nonrefundable. Coaches are humans too; and can only cover so much ground within a single session. It will never be viable to properly simulate two or three one-hour interviews within a single one-hour session, so if you're requesting a larger scope than an interview requires - we pre-manage expectations that this will come at the cost of breadth and depth within one specific topic.

What if I did not find the session with the expert useful?

Prepfully has a balanced reschedule policy

It's free to modify slots (or cancel a booking) before it gets scheduled. It costs $25 to modify a session after scheduled; modifications less than 24h prior to a session cost 50% of the session price. And sessions cannot be modified or refunded after the start of the session time; coaches will wait 15min before marking a session a no-show.

Prepfully balances your (the candidate's) need for flexibility, with your coaches' need for certainty that the time they're blocking will manifest in a payout. Many Prepfully coaches support mocks across a range of platforms, and we expect them to decline these paid commitments once a Prepfully session is locked in. 

Having said, that for both candidates and coaches -- sometimes, "life happens", and a reschedule is needed. Therefore, we help out when we can. 

In much the same way as when you book a flight - if you need to change the date, you will need to pay for this change. If you miss the flight (i.e. your session), your coach will still need to be paid for it, so you cannot get a refund if you miss it. But if your flight gets cancelled (i.e. if your coach cancels your session), you get a free reschedule, or a no-questions-asked full refund.

We only charge where we need to, when there are either costs to cover coach fees, or support / staffing costs to assist with reschedules. We try to make charges are reasonable as possible, unlike most of our competition who absolutely refuse to assist with reschedules less than 24 hours away.

Prepfully supports most reschedule and cancellation requests for free. From the moment you book a session, until the session time is locked in, your reschedule is free. Likewise, if your session is far out and you cancel with a good amount of notice, and don't have a history of abusing this modification functionality - Prepfully usually waives the modification costs too.

However, if your session is just around the corner, your coach will naturally expect to be paid for the time they blocked. Therefore, for modifications less than 24 hours away - there is a 50% modification fee. And if you miss your session, coaches need to wait a full 15 minutes before they can mark you a no-show. After this - regretfully we will not be able to help, unless you've explicitly agree to a free reschedule with your coach in-session.

Here is a simple overview of Prepfully's modification costs:

From booking time - until the session time is locked in, pausing a session, modifying your availability, or cancellation is FREE. This accounts for the vast majority of changes, so for 90% of all modification requests, Prepfully manages to achieve these for free.

Once session time is locked in - until 24h prior to the session time - Reschedules, cancellations or changes cost 25$/modification

From 24h before the session time - session time - Reschedules, cancellations or changes cost 50% of the session price.

After the session has started (no-shows) - reschedules or cancellations isn't possible, unless your coach didn't show up, in which case you are entitled to a full refund or a free reschedule. A Prepfully coach can only mark you a no-show after a minimum waiting period of 15 minutes.


If one or more sessions from the bulk booking are cancelled by you – the refund is calculated as follows:

Each session reverts to its non-discounted rate

Refund amount = “total paid for the bulk booking” minus “all completed sessions at the non-discounted rate”

As an example, if you purchase a 5-session bulk booking for a $200 coach at a 10% discount (i.e. $1000 $900), but then cancel 2 bookings: you will receive $900 minus 3 x $200 (undiscounted rate) = $300.
As another example, if you purchase a 3-session bulk booking for a $200 coach at a 50% discount (i.e. $600 $300), but then cancel 1 booking: you will receive $300 minus 2 x $200 (undiscounted rate) = -$100. You will effectively not receive any refund in such a situation.

We don't share your name or email with candidates; don't anticipate needing to share it with them, and don't intend to ever do so without your explicit permission in advance.


We do share what we call an "anonymized profile" with candidates. This consists of your years of experience, and role/title at companies relevant for the mock interview you are providing. This reassures candidates that they are being coached by someone well qualified at helping them out :)

We use Zoom for sessions, and you can also configure your name to appear as whatever you'd like on Zoom. 

What occurs within a session is between you and the candidate. 

Since the "is the session audio vs video" question comes up occasionally - we don't prescribe this in either direction

Some candidates prefer not to have their video on. If this makes you uncomfortable, you are welcome to cancel the interview - this won't be held against your reliability statistics.

Having said that - if you do choose to reveal your identity, or alternative share information which could reveal your identity - we do want to manage expectations that we cannot be held responsible for any follow-up situations which might occur. A lot of our experts prefer doing this so they can establish relationships with the folks they coach - and we  respect your choice to do so, if you think this makes sense. In this case however, we do want to caveat that we shall not be held liable if any consequences potentially arise from the disclosure of your identity. Additionally, while establishing a relationship beyond Prepfully is totally fine, doing so for the purposes of avoiding Prepfully's commissions to continue coaching beyond does violate our terms of service. If we detect this occurring, we will need to pause your coach profile on Prepfully. Even before we detect this, you will likely see a drop-off in sessions coming your way because "rebook rate" (i.e. how many candidates choose to book you again via Prepfully) is one of our primary metrics which determines your ranking in our search results and outreach algorithm, since this is a great proxy of how good an experience they had with you.

How do I unregister myself as an expert on the platform?

We ONLY schedule a session after first checking with you explicitly, if you are available for it. So yes, it is super flexible.

There are no fixed hours of commitment required or expected. Prepfully is designed as a side gig, so you're always free to decline a session when you aren't available.

We do ask you (as well as the candidate!) to be punctual, so that precious time is not wasted on either side. 

If you are getting late - please let us know in advance so we can manage expectations accordingly with the candidate. 

And please do ensure a full 60-minute session since this is what we promise candidates :)

This is because we balance the amount candidates are willing to pay for practice/advice for different roles and companies with what a fair expectation from experts would be.

If you feel that your experience justifies a higher remuneration, please let us know. This helps us understand where we are possibly mis-pricing a session for a candidate, and will run a test to see if candidates can afford your price point. 

We have tried this 15-20 times in the past, and (largely since we are still new and unknown), charging higher prices means our conversion drops to zero.

Please also note, if you operate on a different price point than our recommended pricing, then we will transfer the risk of refund requests to you. Our default prices are  calibrated to ensure that if refund requests ever do occur, we at Prepfully are able to bear the load but still compensate experts for the time and effort they have invested. If you operate outside the calibrated price range, we will have to transfer refund requests to experts i.e. if a candidate requests a refund, we will have to issue it and will be unable to transfer payment for a session.

In all honesty - we are not trying to compete with your hourly salary (and don't think we will ever manage to). We hope that Prepfully can be a weekend project for our experts much like it is a weekend project for all of us building it; a chance to add value, mentor serious candidates - and turn your knowledge and experience into a side-gig :)

How do I get a higher remuneration than suggested by Prepfully?

Yes, we support quite a few payout currencies. Please drop us a note to check.

However, an important constraint is: you need to have an address in the country of the currency you're requesting. Our payout partner might require verifiable information related to your residency too (eg. a utility bill, proof of identity etc). 

These are requested on a case-by-case basis, and our entirely up to the payout providers - which they also do to stay compliant with global and local regulation. If a piece of information is requested, for a specific user-currency combination, and you decline to provide this, then it will not be possible to complete the payout. 

We can confirm this has never occurred thus far, but we do want to manage expectations of the risk.

For residents of the United States, we support payouts in USD. This is the currency which has the highest % of compliance checks (5% of of all payouts undergo checks, in our experience)

For residents of India - we support transfers in INR directly to your bank account.

For residents of the UK, we support transfers in GBP.

For residents of the EU, we support payouts in EUR. We also support some local currencies (eg. PLN, CHF).

For residents of Australia, we support transfers in AUD.

For residents of Canada, we support transfers in CAD.

For residents of Singapore, we support transfers in CAD.

All other countries and currencies will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. If you need a currency not in this list, and this is the only option available to you: please check with us before you accept a session.

If you have a business account, we might have greater flexibility: but we will need to evaluate on a case-by-case basis, and we will need to sign a separate agreement. Please ensure your business account has an affiliated website and address, this is a mandatory requirement for our payout provider.

If your payout is in the same currency as your configured rate, we will bear all conversion costs in converting any candidate payments from their local currency to your payout currency. However, if you need a payout in a currency different to your configured rate, we will transfer FX currency conversion costs to you. The good news is that due to scale, we've managed to get these quite low.

If you need transfers via SWIFT, we will be unable to bear the transfer costs. We therefore recommend avoiding this mechanism entirely unless you have very good reasons for requesting this.

Can I get my remuneration in a currency other than USD?

There are different rules for different circumstances. We’ve currently got experts across the world and across 1000+ companies, including all the top ones. Everyone has a different context they need to comply within, so we strongly recommend making sure you're compliant to avoid getting into any sort of trouble.

If you are nervous about this, we encourage you to check the regulations around tax and side-incomes in your jurisdictions, or with your companies if it would help you feel more confident. 

Our default guidance is to do this so long as you're comfortable and compliant doing so. Please don't reveal confidential information to anyone as part of your Prepfully coaching.

You can always deactivate your coach profile on Prepfully via your Prepfully settings.

There are different rules for different circumstances. We’ve currently got experts across the world and across 1000+ companies, including all the top ones, and we’ve never heard of anyone facing issues on this front.

Prepfully issues payouts to coaches within 2 days of a session being completed. This is way faster than almost all other competitors, which typically wait until month-end to issue payouts. 


PS - payouts for Nov and Dec 2025 are delayed by 2-5 days as we are migrating to a new payout provider.

Which accounts can Prepfully coaches receive payouts within?

Prepfully can support payouts to bank accounts across a large range of countries. Payouts are initiated using our payout provider Tazapay Pte Ltd (a Singaporean fintech startup). Prepfully covers transfer costs and conversion costs in case there are multiple currencies involved. 

EUR bank accounts for EU residents (also several local currencies such as PLN)

AUD bank accounts for residents of Australia

SGD bank accounts for residents of Singapore

CAD bank accounts for residents of Canada

We're also able to support quite a few more, but we need to handle these on a case-by-case basic.

Prepfully also supports transfers to PayPal accounts. However, please note: PayPal charges business recipients fees on inbound transfers; and this varies based on your account setup, residency, default currency etc, so we would strongly recommend double checking this so you don't get hit with any surprise fees at your end. Prepfully will not add any fees at its own end, of course.

When is a Prepfully payout transferred to a coach?

Payments are transferred to your preferred account as soon as we receive feedback from you for the candidate. Please do ensure you send this within 24 hours of completing the session. If for some reasons you're unable to make the timeline, please let us know at support@prepfully.com so we can manage expectations with the candidate. Candidates have requested refunds for sessions where they didn't receive written feedback, so if you consistently miss filling this out - we will be unable to issue payouts in situations where candidates have requested refunds.

We aim to initiate transfers within 48 hours of your written feedback being received. Transfers are often instantaneous; however in some international transactions funds can show between 5-10 days to show up depending on your receiving bank. There is often also an additional delay of 1-2 days the first time we issue your payout, since we need to get your payout preferences set up in our system.

Finally, to comply with AML and KYC obligations, it's possible our payout provider might request additional information. They will provide a secure link to upload information, if this is needed.

Prepfully also supports payouts to PayPal accounts

Prepfully issues payouts to bank transfers and Wise accounts. 

Bank transfers are supported in all countries where Wise can issue transfers.

Wise account transfers are supported to anyone who has a Wise account.

Prepfully covers currency conversion and transfer charges for both mechanisms.

We also support PayPal, but only in exceptional circumstances (we migrated away from PayPal due to high and unpredictable fees imposed on recipients (2-6%); plus very unresponsive support). 

We are rapidly expanding these though, so do check with us at support@prepfully.com if these mechanisms don't work for you, and we'll try to figure something out.

We also explicitly ask our experts not to share any confidential information - this includes trade secrets, product roadmaps, financial information related to their employer and anything they deem sensitive. This protects them as well as you.

What should I NOT expect from a practice interview?

Short answer - no. All our experts are seasoned professionals and work at reputed companies - and they therefore charge payouts for their time.

The more nuanced reason is - these coaches, at their Prepfully rates, are charging small fractions of the hourly rates these jobs command. Tech roles in the US have annual salaries ranging between $100,000 all the way until more than $2mil. A mock interview session costs anything betwene $50 - $300 (with an average price of $150). This is less than 0.15% of these salaries. #perspective :)

Finally - a lot of coaches offer(ed) free sessions to folks affected by layoffs or in university. Regretfully the recipients of these sessions consistently disrespected these coaches' time by choosing to no-show, or cancel last-minute. Prepfully actively removed support for free sessions in light of this.
