Frequently asked questions

How does my Prepfully coach get allocated for my session?

The allocation of your Prepfully coach depends on how you book the session.

You can basically choose to book a session in two ways.

Method one: Book a specific coach via prepfully.com/coaches

If you book via this channel: Prepfully's systems will exclusively approach that coach.

  • If the coach is available in the slots you provide when booking, they will accept.
  • If they aren't, they can choose to decline or counter with alternatives.

The system will not apply any level of intelligence for this mode, beyond following your explicit instructions. So it is quite important to ensure you choose the correct coach for your needs.

You can expand coach matching to include other relevant coaches whom the system can approach in parallel. For instance, if you choose a specific coach who has past experience as a Sr DS at Meta, and they haven't responded for a while, we'll prompt you to check if you'd be OK with other coaches who have worked as Sr DSes at Meta. You're always welcome to keep waiting though; we introduced this option for candidates who care more about getting good quality practice than the specific coach they get it with (all active Prepfully coaches tend to be pretty good since Prepfully aggressively removes coaches who receive negative reviews).

Method two: Book a coach-agnostic session via prepfully.com/practice-interviews

When this mode is chosen, candidates provide a target company-role-seniority combination to Prepfully, and Prepfully allocates the a well reviewed "perfect match" coach who is available in your slots, to you. This is almost always the cheaper way to book a session. Prepfully defines a "perfect match" as a coach who EXACTLY matches the target company, the target role and has a greater than or equal to target seniority provided by a candidate at the time of booking. Thanks to a really large coach network, Prepfully is able to enable perfect matches for 87% of all requests.

If Prepfully doesn't happen to have any coach from your target company-role-seniority combination, the system will immediately flag this to the candidate, and you allow you to choose coaches who could be a potential fit. Good to know:

  • Coaches chosen as alternatives when Prepfully doesn't have what we call a "perfect match" will not be These coaches will not be familiar with the nuances of the specific company you might be looking for. However, they will be masters of their craft and can simulate good craft-specific sessions for you.
  • However, in some situations, you might not want a coach who has only worked at alternative companies. You're always welcome to decline alternative coaches and mention "I'm not OK with any of these coaches". In this scenario, payment will not be collected from you; instead Prepfully will try to onboard a coach as quickly as possible, and notify you if we succeed in doing so before your slots expire. At that stage, if you're a "go" in terms of scheduling, Prepfully will request payment for the session.
