   is relatively straightforward. The real nightmare is when the model’s own
   outputs alter the future data it collects. If your system recommends a set of
   items, users can only interact with those items, creating a massive selection
   bias in your downstream training data.

* The Reality: Untangling this "closed-loop feedback" without tanking business
   metrics in real-time requires incredibly sophisticated counterfactual
   evaluation and causal inference. Combine that with data drift—where consumer
   behavior shifts under your feet overnight—and you're constantly fighting to
   keep a model from quietly degrading while the dashboard still claims
   everything is green.
