During one of my projects, where we were building a data source that would
fulfill both external reports and some internal tools, during the development
phase after the design has been signed off, the team that is owning the internal
tools has strongly challenged the design and requested significant changes to
the data model. I've gathered the stakeholders from product, engineering and the
internal tools team to discuss what would be the impact of implementing vs not
implementing those changes, how would it affect the timeline and whether those
requests have a strong business case. It turned out that one of the features
that has been requested is very simple to implement from engineering perspective
while it carries a significant business impact since it has been requested by a
number of clients. Other requests have been marked as not mandatory for MVP and
challenging from engineering perspective so they can be added to the backlog and
worked on during future project phases.

As a scrum master I have been asked to change the requirement in the middle of
sprint which was completely 180 degree shift in the requirement and deliver by
end of sprint. However I need to take a stand to explain it will not be feasible
by end of sprint. However definitely by next sprint will complete new
requirement as will start analysing it along with Technical architect such that
customer got convinced that his requirement got acknowledged and results coming
in the next sprint itself
