I would first do my research to understand the urgency of each task, and the
value the tasks contributes to the program success. Then rank the tasks from
most valuable to least value, most urgent to those that can wait and then
communicate the same to relevant stakeholders, to ensure that we are all on the
same page and begining with the most important and urgent tasks.

Take all the 10 tasks initially agreed to be completed.
In order to complete the project and deliver all agreed deliverables segregate
the tasks as ,
1. Must do 
2. Need to do - further subdivided into immediate and later.
3. Good to do
4. Ok to complete after project delivery (for example documentation).

Based on the above segregation pick all the tasks from "must do" category.
  From need to do category pick the ones marked as immediate. If we still have
any bandwidth left take the need to do - later. 
Publish these changes to all stakeholders.
