There was a situation where i had to close the verification and initially, it was just myself and another junior engineer whom i was mentoring. However, i expressed that given the timeline to close verification i would need atleast 3 senior engineers. I was pushed back on that and eventually, i was given with 6 mid-junior level contractors who didn't have background or knowledge of the IP. The time-line we had was 5 months from the time they were onboarded. Just to give you a bit of background, this is a complex IP where senior folks would probably take ~2-3months to rampup to a decent state to deliver. Given these were mostly junior with a couple of mid-level folks, I had to strategize how to efficiently ramp-up these guys and get the results from them quickly. As part of the strategy, i prepared the whole document with links to how to setup workspace, how to clone the repo, compile and run. I strategized to split work among each of them such that each person can independently work and deliver at the same time the scope of their work is small such that just understanding that scope of work and few things around would help them deliver. This was definitely a challenge which i had never faced but we were able to successfully deliver with a few regression failures. We debugged them in time to root cause as testbench issue and were able to sign-of for RTL freeze however, we eventually did fix the Testbench bugs and had those tests passing.
