A an EM we need to improve continously , In the last five years I learned and contributed a lot in various sectors:
1. People Management :
a. I learned that people management isnot just assiging the task and monitoring whether it is closed or not, but it is about how you can link company goals with team and individual goals so every one should be the part of the goal.
b. Always treat your strong performer and weak performer differently . Strong performer needs room for ownership , experimentation and weak performer need help to overcome the threshold in the area in which he is lacking.
c. team always works or get build aronud strong performer but we should make sure that they doesnot become center point of all the resporces . So to do this once a task solution is done by strong performer is done involve some other member for solutioninig, create documentation.
d. 1:1 with team mates is the most important meeting as this is the meeting wherre company culture it set and company level is improved.
2. Problem-Sovling
a. Always approach some with not just with problem but with findin and solutions ex , in case of discovering an oncall issue , not just directly rush to a person just with the issue but with initial analysis , RCA as people try to help more if they see some one is putting extra effort.
b. Always try ot coach your team and develop problem soloving skills in them rather then telling them what do do.
Technology:
1. Evaluate tech not just from the point that it how good it its but keep risk , maintanability , cost factor in mind.
2. Always keep in mind that actual prioriy order is business, product and tech so you tech should be such that it is solving business proble with ease rather then building some thing hat is not usefull.
3. how to measure the success of a project should always be defined even before starting it. otherwise it just becoam another task for the team that they will build deploy and forgot.
Communication:
1. Transparent communication and keeping all stake holder alligned is vry important for any project
