How do you evaluate and measure your performance as an engineering manager?

Since most people rate then selves as better than average, I'm better than
average.  But seriously, i have tried to apply becoming a better software manger
by applying the same  process  to becoming a better software developer, find
others who are good at the role determine behaviours that make them good, any
processes that hey follow that lead to success, read books recommended by the
industry , try to apply the techniques and ask feedback from directs on how I am
doing, its a journey where I can always get better, looking back on previous
directs i can see them progressing through their careers i would hope that my
time as a manager influenced them, also past projects I have delivered as a team
woudl indicate I must have been doing something right as the teams delivered
