My favorite stage in the design process is the preliminary discovery and
problem-definition phase. This stage captivates me because it’s where you truly
see how people work, what slows them down, and what they wish the system could
do for them.

I especially enjoy conducting surveys and interviews. They not only give me
direct insights from users, but they also help build relationships and trust
early on. By observing user behavior — their patterns, the terminology they use,
and how they interact with the product or service — I’m able to uncover the real
pain points and the relationship dynamics behind them. Once that becomes clear,
the design decisions that follow are much more intentional.

And when I encounter situations where users give unclear answers or
participation is limited, I expand my research methods. I look for additional
user groups or real-world examples in online communities like Reddit to validate
patterns and broaden my understanding. It helps me avoid assumptions and ensures
the solution is grounded in real user behavior.

It’s rewarding because strong discovery almost always leads to simpler, more
meaningful solutions. And it sets a solid foundation for collaboration, making
prototyping and iteration feel much more aligned and efficient.

From my experience, I enjoy testing phase of the project alot, I actually get to
know where my designs stand and how my users are interacting. There is lot of
clarity to what Users are needing and what should be my next focus, I also geta
cross alot of new insights while doing user testing and I love when users enjoy
the product.
