At Auctane, during a critical phase of development, our Senior Developer left the team. Initially, I believed the remaining team members could absorb the workload, and I planned to hire a mid-level engineer as a replacement. However, as the sprints progressed, I noticed a decline in the quality of our deliverables, and the bug count began to rise.
Recognizing that our standards were slipping, I took corrective action by temporarily borrowing a Senior Developer from another team to provide the technical leadership we needed. Simultaneously, I accelerated the hiring process to bring in another Senior Engineer as a long-term solution. With strong leadership restored, the team was able to get back on track, and we successfully delivered the project on time.
