I believe effective conflict resolution in the workplace requires a combination of professional communication, emotional intelligence, and a solutions-oriented mindset. Let me share my approach:
First, I always try to address conflicts early before they escalate. When I notice tension or disagreement, I prefer to have a direct but respectful conversation with the involved parties. I focus on:
- Active listening - Understanding all perspectives without interrupting or making assumptions
- Using "I" statements to express concerns without being accusatory
- Remaining calm and professional, regardless of the situation's emotional intensity
For example, in my previous role, I had a disagreement with a team member about project priorities. Instead of letting frustration build, I:
- Scheduled a private meeting to discuss the issue
- Asked questions to understand their perspective
- Shared my viewpoint and concerns
- Worked together to find a compromise that aligned with our team's goals
I also believe in:
- Focusing on facts rather than emotions
- Looking for common ground
- Documenting agreements and follow-up actions
- Involving management when necessary, but trying to resolve issues at the peer level first
I understand Apple's collaborative culture and high standards for excellence can create situations where different viewpoints need to be reconciled. I'm confident these conflict resolution skills would help me navigate such challenges while maintaining positive working relationships and achieving team objectives.

When there is a situation where two people have conflicts and are in deadlock, then they are clearly not seeing eye to eye on that specific topic and are emotionally investedin their current solution and forgetting to look at bigger picture. There is no one right answer and if its a subjective discussion then its mostly about trade offs.
tere was a situation in my company where two engineers were discussing in a PR review and didnt come to an agreement. I reached out to each individual seperately and then understood the case, I then brough both of them a single private slack room and told them to see the bugger picture and discuss trade offs
1) which solution has more risks (one person)
2) whoch solution is preferred in the long run (one person)
at that point, we are 1 day to go to staging and the changes we are doing has impacts that we dont know exactly how to test which is the main concern. So my suggestion is to do it right for new client this version, create a ticket to go and refactor other client to use this new model. He didn't agree and so i gave him one day to prove me that he can safetly do this without breaking the other thing. He reached out to get testcases and read the documentation to confirm if this is good and during the tests, it broke one of the testcases and it was getting close to staging cut off and so I told him to go with alternate solution.
