I was part of a large program which did the gift registry modernization for a
large retailer. I was leading the data modeling and migration, and a colleague
was leading the front-end development. This was a large program involving a lot
of vendors and status and progress were discussed daily in a meeting. I found my
colleague struggling to provide an accurate progress report - specifically he
could not come up with some of the estimates and dates for his items. I decided
to help him out and started talking to him on his process. He mentioned that he
was a first time project manager and was struggling to get data from another
team to calculate his estimates. We brainstormed together on what the other
teams' output and delivery dates can be and came up with few assumptions. My
colleague was able to come up with some numbers and dates based on the
assumption. I also coached him to present the numbers as an estimate like "As
per out assumption, which is X, I have 80% level of confidence that Z API will
take 100-125 hours to develop and will be completed by the weekending 15th
February". This opened up conversations and provided more data. My colleague was
able to give more accurate estimates and dates within the meeting itself.

and not sure how to move forward.
S – Situation:
Once, someone on a neighboring team was struggling with a production issue for a
few days. I noticed that he seemed frustrated and wanted help, but didn’t quite
know how to ask.
T – Task:
After finishing my work early one day, I proactively messaged him on Teams and
offered support. He was happy, but mentioned he wasn’t even sure how to describe
the problem clearly.
A – Action:
So I sat down with him and tried to understand the issue. He told me that after
one of his code changes went live, a dropdown component in our shared UI broke —
its layout was completely messed up, even though his change didn’t touch that
component directly.
I helped him debug the issue step by step. After ruling out rendering or layout
bugs, I noticed the problem was actually due to a CSS variable conflict — the
styles weren’t properly isolated, which caused unexpected overrides.

I would love to help colleague when they encounter the issues, here is one of
the example I had done previously :
Situation: Our team has several new grad come in, and their onboarding task was
related to the Front end project. However, most of them haven't the experience
working in large-scale, react project, so it's hard for them to onboard and I
found them get stuck at that time
Task: I totally understand how difficult they feel so I decided to have a 101
meeting for them to introduce the whole design of our front end code, including
debug,structure, commit and how to build it
Action: I send the invitation to them, and I was surprised they feel excited
about the meeting. I prepared the documents for several parts, including the
basic understanding of React, redux as well as the whole data design. I
conducted the senior engineer in our team and several senior /principal engineer
joined the meeting, they also shared the specific domain knowledge
Result: The 101 meeting was successful, and I also added the document to the git
repo, this encouraged the team to contribute to the documentation

During a consulting project, I had to make a decision that wasn’t initially
well-received by my team. We were behind on a critical deadline, and our
workflow included a lot of simultaneous tasks that people were juggling at once.
It was creating confusion, duplicated work, and constant context switching.

After reviewing our progress and speaking individually with teammates, I

As an engineering manager at the Flutter Team I had the opportunity to help
colleagues and reports in their work. One example was helping a colleague to
design and implement mac and ios code signing. Neither of us had experience with
code signing but I volunteered to help him experiment and collect all the
information required to implement automated and secure code signing. I helped
with getting access to the Flutter’s Apple developer account, debugging signed
binaries and libraries causing issues, etc.
The outcome of assisting this colleague was services and tooling to fully
automate the code signing process during the release process. Personally it
helped me understand the product workflows and create strong work relationships

they could ask it there. As a result we had the ability to build each other up

of tables and in her memoirs with some ideas to improve it for example location
of photos, titles, and deletion of some details which are not interesting
